Northeastern University responded to the 2007 EntrepreneurshipWeek USA call to action from the Kauffman Foundation for universities and entrepreneurial organizations around the country to provide educational activities for entrepreneurs of all backgrounds. Led by Paul M. Zavracky, then Dean of the School of Technological Entrepreneurship; and produced by Anthony De Ritis, then Chair of the Music Department, and member of the Board of Advisors to the School of Technological Entrepreneurship, the Kauffman Foundation highlighted Northeastern’s 2007 activities out of 350 participating colleges and universities to be featured in its 2008 Global Entrepreneurship Week call to action marketing and promotion materials.

A number of campuses embraced the Week in 2007 with various types of activities, including many that developed themes for each day of the week. A number went a step further by developing an entrepreneurial ecosphere that united a range of entities across campus and throughout the surrounding communities.

Northeastern University organized more than 20 activities during the Week, including eight workshops to train aspiring entrepreneurs on what it takes to be a successful entrepreneur, separate sessions on entrepreneurship in the biotechnology, nanotechnology, and music industries, and a resources fair promoting local organizations and the tools they use to assist entrepreneurs.
